We wish to extend our condolences to the family and friends of Keith Wright. Keith passed away last week and will be truly missed, especially by those within the basketball community who benefited from Keith's devotion to our game.
In 1995 his contribution was recognised when he was awarded the Sir Lance Cross Memorial Award, particularly in appreciation for his service to the Nelson Basketball Association. He was an administrator, coach, maintenance man, financier, referees coordinator, project developer and was described as a ‘Jack of all Trades’ whose total commitment to the sport of basketball was outstanding. At the time of accepting the award, Mr Wright expressed his appreciation in being honoured with such a prestigious award and thanked those responsible. He said basketball had always been a great love of his life and had brought him immeasurable pleasure, lifelong friendships and fond memories.
Keith's selfless volunteerism and sense of community was greatly respected and appreciated.
There will be a service held for Keith on 9 February at 4pm, at 42 Aniseed Road in Nelson.
