Women’s side named for FIBA 3x3 U18 World Cup in Mongolia
The New Zealand Women’s Under 18 3x3 side has been named ahead of the FIBA 3x3 U18 World Cup, to be held in Ulaanbaatar Mongolia, 3 to 7 June.

Ashlee Strawbridge, Sharne Pupuke-Robati, Tayla Dalton and Charlisse Leger-Walker make up the roster with Justine Reed as Head Coach.

The event will be played at the iconic Sukhbaatar Square on one centre court. All twenty teams per gender have been divided into four groups of five teams and will play a round-robin phase leading to a single elimination as of quarter-final games.

New Zealand has been placed in Pool B, which appears to be another Pool of Death. Russia (ranked 2) and Hungary (7) sit as the two top seeds in the Pool. Yet USA rounds out the Pool with Poland. The top seed, China, sits in Pool A.

Despite being ranked 10, New Zealand will be seen as a threat, given the New Zealand U18 women’s side won a silver medal at the FIBA 3x3 U18 Asia Cup in 2018. In that final they lost 19-12 to China. This roster lists some of New Zealand’s best young female basketball talent, with five-aside experience from many international events including FIBA Asia and World Cups.
